President Nichi Vendola
June 9-10, 2009

George Visintin, on behalf of the ICCT, welcomed Nichi Vendola, president of the Region of Puglia during his brief visit to Toronto. He attended a dinner where he met Joe Volpe PC, MP, Laura Albanese MPP, and various business members of the Pugliese community of the GTA.

In addition, the Hon. Vendola met with George Smitherman, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and were able to discuss important renewable energy initiatives particularly those of wind and photovoltaic energy. Ontario is the leading wind capacity jursidiction in Canada and Puglia is among Europe's top alternative energy providers.

The ICCT plans on future trade and research delegations in this sector.
